Welcome to the website for Wombourne Carnival!!

This is the world's biggest and best street carnival...ever!
Well, one day perhaps! As you may all know...the carnival is run and organised by a committee of volunteers and initially took place to celebrate the silver jubilee in 1977. It has been growing from strength to strength ever since.

The carnival has taken place every year since then on the first Sunday in July and is now located in and around the Civic Centre in Wombourne. We are extremely grateful to the Parish Council for their support over the years.

As always, the fun starts at 1.30 p.m. and the Carnival Procession leaves the Parade Ground to travel around the village at 2.00 p.m.

A number of schools and voluntary organisations all take part in the carnival procession, which is a major part of the event. After great consideration by all attending, the theme for the 2011 Carnival is:

"Pantomime"

Yet again this was deemed to provide plenty of scope for dressing up for the schools who enter and so far from the feedback we have had will be a "cracking event" as always!

As usual, their are numerous side stalls, displays and other attractions that combine to make the carnival something the village can be proud of, and is fun for all the family.

Wombourne Carnival Committee.

To showcase our Carnival as one of the biggest and finest in the Midland's, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to this and previous years events and to invite anyone who has ideas, creative skills, talent, or who would like to become involved in any way to come forward NOW. This is a community event - and we need the community to participate, sponsor and join us in ensuring the future success of (Y)OUR CARNIVAL

latest news

2011
The Lorries/Floats are still back!

We have again been offered the use of some flatbacked lorries for the Carnival and subject to insurance and other legalities we will have lorries for the main Carnival procession again this year. But sadly not so many!!

Our thanks again go to Mr Warren Cole of CNW Commercials, who last year attended one of our monthly meetings having heard of the problems we have obtaining Lorries for the Carnival procession and the legislation that we feel is holding us back. Hopefully this will now put to rest rumours that abounded in recent years that the carnival has no procession or is closing down for good!
